Research Questions

  • What is the distribution of caddisflies, fairy shrimp, and amphibian species in vernal pools in the Northeast? 
  • How will their distribution change as the climate warms?

Who Can Participate?

This project is designed for small groups working together. We have developed curriculum resources and professional development experiences to support teachers of elementary through high school aged students in facilitating learning through participation in this project. How Do I Participate?

  • Create an account at investigate.gmri.org 
  • Set up a trip for your group including information on when, where, and how many people will monitor your vernal pool
  • Use the identification resources and follow the steps listed in the detailed protocol linked on the project page to monitor a vernal pool in your area.
