With the help of fellow students and professors, Greg started Maine Big Night in 2018 at Unity College. Greg has always had an interest in amphibian migrations, starting with early encounters with Spotted Salamanders and noticing how many amphibians get hit by cars as a child. Greg is currently a graduate student at the University of Maine studying how to find rare turtles and is responsible for coordinating volunteers when springtime comes.

Jeff is a teaching professor at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. He has taught herpetology for years and has led students in field biology classes around the world including Costa Rica, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, Borneo, Madagascar, and Australia. His research centers on the ecology of amphibians and reptiles, and he has published papers on such topics as describing a new species of poison dart frog from Venezuela, a key to turtle eggs/nests, an illustrated guide to amphibian larvae and eggs in the Midwest, a study of how agricultural ponds function as breeding habitat for amphibians, and timber rattlesnake movements and conservation.
Scientific Advisor/GIS Specialist
Marcia Moreno-Baez is a visiting teaching professor at the University of New England. Her area of interest is the spatial dimension of human interactions with the environment. She is currently teaching geographic information systems (GIS) and her work has included the development of citizen science programs. She currently works with local towns and conservation trusts and hopes to bring more awareness to all citizens through her teaching, support of students, and by promoting this initiative with local towns in Maine.
